Recommended products against Swine Flu - Influenza A (H1N1)
Concern over a potential swine influenza pandemic continues to grow resulting in significant increases in the demand for personal protective equipment (PPE). Kimberly-Clark has begun increasing capacity on critical codes including face masks in an effort to ensure that we can meet demand from our customers.
Current Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines recommend that respirators be considered for use by individuals for whom close contact with an infectious person is unavoidable. This can include selected individuals who must care for a sick person (e.g., family member with a respiratory infection) at home. This recommendation accompanies the CDC guidelines for the general public including:
• frequent hand washing
• avoiding close contact
• covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing
• staying at home when sick.
The PPE categories most affected by swine flu stockpiling are face masks and exam gloves. We anticipate that market demand will increase across all categories of these products. At this point in time, we do not anticipate any interruption to current order fulfillment. KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL* will continue to monitor inventories closely.
KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL* put together a product range that is recommended to use for preventing cross contamination. For more general information on Swine Influenza, please read here.
